Ingredients
- 1 whole fish (about 1.5 pounds, such as sea bass or tilapia)
- 2 inches ginger, julienned
- 3 green onions, chopped
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon rice wine
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
- Water for steaming
Instructions
- 1Clean and gut the fish, then pat dry with paper towels — 5 minutes
- 2Place the fish on a heatproof plate and sprinkle salt inside and outside — 2 minutes
- 3Stuff the fish cavity with half of the ginger and green onions — 2 minutes
- 4Mix soy sauce, sesame oil, and rice wine in a small bowl — 2 minutes
- 5Pour the sauce mixture over the fish — 1 minute
- 6Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a boil — 5 minutes
- 7Place the plate with the fish in the steamer, cover, and steam for 10-12 minutes until cooked through — 12 minutes
- 8Remove the fish from the steamer and garnish with remaining ginger, green onions, and cilantro — 2 minutes
