Ingredients (one per line)
1 whole fish (about 1.5 pounds, such as sea bass or tilapia) 2 inches ginger, julienned 3 green onions, chopped 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1 tablespoon sesame oil 1 tablespoon rice wine Salt to taste Fresh cilantro for garnish Water for steaming
Instructions (one step per line)
Clean and gut the fish, then pat dry with paper towels — 5 minutes Place the fish on a heatproof plate and sprinkle salt inside and outside — 2 minutes Stuff the fish cavity with half of the ginger and green onions — 2 minutes Mix soy sauce, sesame oil, and rice wine in a small bowl — 2 minutes Pour the sauce mixture over the fish — 1 minute Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a boil — 5 minutes Place the plate with the fish in the steamer, cover, and steam for 10-12 minutes until cooked through — 12 minutes Remove the fish from the steamer and garnish with remaining ginger, green onions, and cilantro — 2 minutes
