Ingredients
- 8 ounces elbow macaroni
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions
- 1Boil water in a large pot and cook macaroni according to package instructions — 8 minutes
- 2Drain the macaroni and set aside — 2 minutes
- 3In the same pot, melt butter over medium heat — 1 minute
- 4Stir in flour and cook for about 1 minute until well combined — 1 minute
- 5Gradually whisk in milk and cook until the sauce thickens, stirring frequently — 5 minutes
- 6Remove from heat and stir in cheese, salt, pepper, and paprika until smooth — 2 minutes
- 7Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix well — 2 minutes
- 8Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) — 5 minutes
- 9Transfer the mac and cheese to a baking dish and sprinkle breadcrumbs on top — 2 minutes
- 10Bake in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown — 10 minutes
